We love Velveteen Lops!! They have the curious "puppy personality" of the English Lop, but Velveteens aren't as big. Their maximum show weight is 6 & 1/2 pounds. Velveteen Lops should have the body, head, and ears similar to an English Lop with the fur of a Rex.
The Velveteen Lop's ears should be in proportion with their body. The ears need to have a minimum length of 14 inches from the tip of one ear to the tip of the other ear. The width of the ear should measure about 1/4 of the length.
The Velveteen Lop's body has the appearance of a mandolin~ similar to an English Lop. The arch starts at the back of the shoulders and reaches the highest point at the center of the hips. The body then sweeps, round and full, to the base of the tail.
The head is wedge shaped in appearance and tapers to a wide muzzle~ similar to an English Lop. The neck is to be short.
The fur is to have the same length (approximately 1/2 inch), texture, and density over the entire body~ similar to a rex. The Velveteen Lop's fur has a plush~like feel and is extremely smooth to the touch. It has a distinct springiness to it. It is like running your hand across a velvet dress.
